Department Features

  1. (Curriculum Development) 
    The School of Management’s core ideas consist of academic integration, international cooperation and industrial development, which make up the 3I strategy. Under these guiding principles, the curriculum has changed to focus on skillful knowledge and attitudes, on understanding the country’s economic development and characteristics and drawing connections between policy planning and economic theory. In addition, the Department fosters students to develop an international perspective, provides career planning and academic counseling, which will give students a competitive edge in finding employment, in order to fulfill societal needs for economic talents. 

  2. Emphasizing Employment Capability: 
    In spring semester of 2007, the Department of Economics began holding economic seminars and in the following semester began holding career planning and development courses, corporate visitations and English proficiency tests in order to enhance the employment options of graduates. The School of Management began receiving compensation from the Ministry of Education in the spring of 2008 in order to be able to provide finance personnel training in conjunction with Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance as well as Hua Nan Financial Holdings for a total of 18 credits. As of now there have been 160 hours of internship held at various corporations. Starting from 2012, the School of Management Executive MBA has held its “swan plan”, inviting Executive MBA lecturers and other relevant groups to work together to hold a series of seminars relating to job searches, career planning and industry presentations; then arranging industry professionals and graduates to be paired up together, in order to give prospective graduates a better network for future employment. 

  3. The School of Management is sister schools with San Jose State University of California, USA. Two students went on an exchange trip for an entire year in the winter semester of 1999, one of which directly entered the MBA program. The department has also signed an exchange contract with Japan’s Osaka Sangyo University and their National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies. Additionally, the Department of Economics participates in the exchange program with China’s 985 Schools, in recent years receiving many exchange students. 

  4. Instituting a Lecturing Professor 
    The Department of Economics invited Professor Kuan Chung-ming of the Academia Sinica to become its lecturing professor; in accordance with his advice, the department should take advantage of the proximity to Sun Moon Lake, as well as developing research into the tourism industry. After much painstaking research, the departmental colleagues drafted a consensus to focus on the field of tourism and travel with academic research.
